Playdates. Bryn has this friend Rebecca that comes over ALL of the time. She used to live across the street but since has moved across the subdivision (in our childhood across our subdivision was across town--yet one example of how our childhoods were different). Anyway, Bryn was complaining that Rebecca just comes over for a playdate and doesn't schedule them. When did the times change to having to schedule playdates and not just walk across the street to see if your friend could play? I had to explain to Bryn that when we were kids we didn't schedule playdates, we just went to see if our friends could play. Who knows which way is right?
College. I am writing this one down because I want my girls to remember this conversation when they try to move out to go to college. Bryn says to Maryn "Maryn, did you know that there are colleges that some people have to move to and live at to go to college? They only get to come home for holidays like Valentine's Day?" Maryn says "I didn't know that Bryn is that really true?" and Bryn says "Yes Maryn but mom has told me that she will find a college for us that we can live with her."
Judging Books by their Cover. Ian took the girls to the library tonight. Bryn told Ian that she wanted to get a book with a really pretty cover. Ian told her that there is a popular saying that says we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. He explained what it meant. He explained that sometimes really attractive people have no substance or character. We can't judge something or someone by how they look. Bryn then said "Yeah, that's like one time mom met a really handsome guy but then she married you."
